WHAT DOES A SHOCK ABSORBER REVISION INVOLVE?

  1. Completely disassemble the shock absorber
  2. Check all parts
  3. Assemble the shock absorber with:
    New oil
    New seals
    New o-rings
  4. Test the shock absorber on the test bench.

It is important that the cap through which the piston rod enters the shock absorber is screwed. And not pressed or clamped. The latter is often the case with OEM (standard mounted) shock absorbers. Most OEM shock absorbers cannot be overhauled because of this.
